Michigan has its share of spooky legends (see for yourself on our haunted location page). Not surprisingly, a good number of these "hauntings" revolve around a supposed witch who continues to roam these locations.

Pere Cheney: The Witch That Cursed This Ghost Town

The historic town of Pere Cheney was established in 1874, but went abandoned by 1917. It is now a literal ghost town, plagued by hundreds of reports of "paranormal activity."

According to legend, a witch was blamed for the fires and disease outbreak that ravaged the city. She was hanged on a large and menacing tree in the back of the town's old cemetery. It's this cemetery that's said to be the town's most "haunted" location.

During our investigation, we caught some impressive EVP's by this tree. Hear them in our video below:

Soop Cemetery: Where Rituals Continue to This Day

Soop Cemetery in Belleville, Michigan is one of our favorite haunted sites. Every time we go, we capture intriguing evidence, from voices and noises to a full-on shadow figure.

It is a fact that the namesake Elizabeth Soop was a witch during her life. To this day, rituals are conducted atop her grave... we've even found old bones and other ritualistic items there during investigations.

Seven Gables Road: If You Hear Her Scream, You'll Die

We've been to Seven Gables road a couple times, most recently for the Public Ghost Hunt event that we hosted.

This is the most "urban legend-y" one on the list, as there is no documentation whatsoever for its "witch" legend. However, it's one of the most talked about hauntings in Michigan. Supposedly, a witch cursed the road, and if you go there today and hear a loud scream, you're going to die. We heard a scream there during an investigation... but we're still alive.

There does appear to be real paranormal activity along the road; however, we must separate fact from fiction. It does not seem to be linked to the "witch" legend whatsoever. So what is actually haunting Seven Gables? That will require further investigations.
