The other night... March 2, 2021... the Afterlife Road crew had our craziest paranormal experience to date. As fate would have it though, it happened off camera.
One thing first though: we’re going to conceal the location’s identity. All I will say is that it’s a cemetery we’ve filmed at before for our channel. I’m not revealing its identity because I don’t want to sensationalize an already severely desecrated burial spot. I fear the repercussions of giving the legend more power, and what would happen if an inexperienced thrill seeker further damages the graves. Plus, the legend itself isn’t important for this story. All you need to know is that once you park your car, it’s a quick walk to a path that leads to the cemetery. In last week’s episode, I mentioned that sometimes we’ll conduct preliminary investigations, off camera, at supposedly haunted locations near us. The opposite is also true. If we pass by a public place we’ve filmed an investigation at before, like a creepy road or a cemetery, sometimes we’ll hop out of the car real quick. Even though we don’t have any cameras or equipment on us, it’s still cool to revisit these locations. This is what we did on the evening of March 2. It was three of us in the car, driving home, when we passed a cemetery we’ve investigated twice before. Approaching the familiar road that it lies along, we all felt overwhelmed with anxiety. Fear. One of the investigators with me recommended we proceed incrementally. Start in the car with the windows down. If we feel more comfortable, exit the vehicle and approach the path leading to the cemetery. If we still feel safe, we enter. While in the car, I could’ve sworn I heard a female cry. But my first thought as always was to debunk. Since we were near a main road, I couldn’t rule out it was a car screeching or something in the distance. So I wasn’t thinking much of it in the moment, and I convinced the other investigators it was okay to exit the vehicle and make the short walk to the path. As we were walking, we heard breathing in our ears and didn’t feel alone. Something bad was going to happen. One of the two others with me got the vivid and terrifying image of a large animal snarling and guarding the cemetery. She said that guardian creature perfectly described the feeling all of us were getting. That feeling you get when you face a dangerous animal right before it attacks you. Knowing in that moment you made a dire mistake. You messed up and now you’re going to pay for it with your life. As we approached the path, she was adamant: something was going to happen. And when we finally reached it, something did. Staring down the path, we see a pack of glowing red eyes manifest right in front of us. They weren’t there at first, and then they suddenly were. I only saw two pairs, completely still and just staring back, but the others with me insisted they saw at least five. Somehow, that vision came true: there was some sort of creature waiting for us. The eyes were from way down the path, and our flashlights weren’t bright enough to reach that far. So we immediately run to the car so we can shine its headlights down there. In the three or so minutes it took to spin the car around, whatever red eyes we all saw were gone. And there was nothing in sight. We rolled the windows down and blared the horn; we didn’t see or hear anything scurry. That’s when a chilling thought was proposed: what if those weren’t animals? In retrospect, I wish I had our FLIR thermal imaging camera on us. With a range of about 100 feet, that would’ve definitively told us one way or another. All I will say is this: if it can be proven that those were not living creatures, I will instantly believe in ghosts. But that wasn’t all. No, that was just the beginning. All of a sudden, a bright beachball sized glowing orb of light was seen in the woods. Through our own eyes, not through a camera or lens. Remember, we didn’t have any equipment or cameras with us, so we were unfortunately unable to document this unbelievable sight. After seeing this light, both investigators with me got severely affected by whatever energy was emanating from the cemetery. One of them felt paralyzed and unable to speak; the other suddenly got overcome with rage. I’ve never seen them angry before. This was very unlike them. I decided to drive to the next road over just so we could recoup and not be as close to the cemetery’s entrance. That’s when all three of us started to experience time in strange ways. The two minute drive felt like twenty. Driving at twenty-five miles per hour felt like we were speeding down the highway. And then, I kid you not, all three of us saw the moon above us change position and orientation in a matter of seconds. It literally was on one side of the sky, then it was flipped and on the other, as if we were looking at its mirror image. This was not a trick of the eye, because we were completely stationary. There is more to this story, but that’s the basics of it. It’s all I can share without revealing the identities of the location and other investigators with me. I’ll conclude by sharing this: when going to bed that night, I experienced sleep paralysis as soon as my head hit the pillow. I wasn’t asleep yet, and hadn’t even closed my eyes. Much like the investigator that felt paralyzed after seeing the light, I couldn’t move. I couldn’t speak. And it felt like I was being lowered into the ground, as if being buried in a casket.
